Jose Mourinho could consider returning to Manchester United after being sacked by Turkish giants Fenerbahce.
Fenerbahce took the bold decision after the club failed to qualify for the league phase of the 2025/26 UEFA Champions League season.
Meanwhile, Man United manager Ruben Amorim is under insurmountable pressure following the club’s EFL Cup exit to fourth-tier side Grimsby Town.
Man Utd are winless in the Premier League and are 2/5 with football betting sites to claim their first win against Burnley this Saturday.
Fenerbahce Sack Jose Mourinho After UCL Exit
Turkish Super Lig side Fenerbahce finished second in the title race last season, with Galatasaray claiming the top spot. As a result, Fenerbahce only qualified for the Champions League play-offs while the table toppers directly entered the league phase.
Fenerbahce played out a goalless draw with Benfica in the first leg of their Champions League play-off. The Portuguese side finished with 10 men but Mourinho’s team could not capitalise. In the return leg on Wednesday, the Eagles claimed a 1-0 win, knocking Fenerbahce out of the competition.

On Friday, the club announced they had parted ways with Mourinho.
Their statement on X (formerly Twitter) read:
“Our Professional Football First Team’s technical director, Jose Mourinho, who has been carrying out his duties starting from the 2024-2025 season, has parted ways with us. We thank him for his efforts for our team until today and wish him success in his future career.”
Mourinho managed Fenerbahce in 62 games, taking them to 37 wins, 14 draws, and 11 defeats.
Mourinho Could Consider Man Utd Return
Ruben Amorim set an unwanted record with the defeat against Arsenal. He became the quickest of all Man Utd managers to suffer 15 league losses in the Premier League era. Many believe it is time for another change in the dugout, and SportCasting’s betting odds suggest Jose Mourinho is the favourite to replace him.
After leaving his job in Turkey, Mourinho is free to pick his next project, and Man Utd may try to persuade him to return. Mourinho, who has time and again professed his love for the club and fans, could take another stab at the challenge.
"If I tell you, for example, that I consider one of the best jobs of my career was to finish second with Man Utd in The Premier League (17/18), you will say, 'this guy is crazy,'"

The former Chelsea, Inter Milan, and Real Madrid manager has been Man Utd’s most successful coach in the post-Ferguson era.
He took the club to the UEFA Europa League title, EFL Cup, and the FA Community Shield in the 2016/17 season. Mourinho also oversaw the best Premier League season after Sir Alex Ferguson left his post. Under his tutelage, Man Utd finished second in the Premier League race in the 2017/18 season.
With speculation about his future at an all-time high, Amorim’s Man Utd will host Burnley at home. Another disappointing result could be the final nail in the coffin for the former Sporting CP manager.
