The 31-year-old embarks on the biggest fight of his life at UFC 319, as he takes on the reigning 185-pound champion in what is his first taste of a five round title fight.

Chimaev is the overriding favourite with UFC betting sites to beat the champion and take his belt, despite only having had 14 professional MMA fights and never having been in a UFC Title bout to date.

Khamzat Chimaev Becomes Third Active UFC Fighter With 10M+ Instagram Followers

With Khamzat Chimaev’s Instagram following hitting 10m, this means that ‘Borz’ is now officially the third most followed active UFC fighter on the social media platform.

Two-division king Ilia Topuria currently tops the list of the most followed UFC fighters in the world with 11.5m+ Instagram followers, with Islam Makhachev not far behind with 10.7m.

Now, ‘Borz’ has become just the third active UFC fighter to surpass 10m followers on Instagram. This excludes Conor McGregor, who has 44m+ followers. However, he hasn’t fought in over four years meaning he doesn’t count as an active UFC combatant.

Despite not competing for any UFC Title yet and having only fought eight times in Dana White’s organisation, it’s clear to see just how much of a superstar the Chechen MMA fighter really is.

Should Chimaev win and become the king of the middleweight division, he could well pass both Makhachev and Topuria to become the single most followed active UFC fighter on Instagram.

It remains to be seen whether or not this will happen for Chimaev, who is facing the toughest fight of his life at UFC 319. That being said, he is the favourite and is expected to become the new 185-pound champion.
