After 18 months out of the ring since his last defeat, the Liam Smith next fight has been officially confirmed for the Chris Eubank Jr vs Conor Benn undercard on April 26th at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium against unbeaten Irishman Aaron McKenna.

Liam Smith Next Fight: ‘Beefy’ Faces Unbeaten Aaron McKenna On Eubank Jr vs Benn Undercard

As a former world champion and reasonably big name in world boxing, Liam Smith is certainly a man well known to the British public. Smith is of course a former world champion at 154-pounds, having shared the ring with the likes of Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez, Chris Eubank Jr twice and other big names before.

‘Beefy’ has been very inactive of late and hasn’t fought since losing his rematch to Eubank Jr back in September 2023. His next fight sees a return to the ring for the first time in over 18 months as he aims to get back to the pinnacle of the middleweight division.

Liam Smith’s record now stands at 33-4-1 with 20 KO’s. He has of course shared the ring with elite fighters over the years, none more so than pound-for-pound boxing great ‘Canelo‘.

In regards to the Liam Smith next fight, it has been confirmed that the 36-year-old will face undefeated Irishman Aaron McKenna on April 26th at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on the Chris Eubank Jr vs Conor Benn undercard.

Smith’s next fight against McKenna is an interesting one, with it being billed as some sort of crossroads fight. Smith hasn’t fought in over 18 months but has world class pedigree, whereas McKenna is undefeated and seemingly on the up.

McKenna seems a quality fighter but is yet to face anyone even remotely on Liam Smith’s level in his professional career. Going into the contest, it is the former WBO World Light-Middleweight Champion ‘Beefy’ who is the marginal favourite with the best UK boxing betting sites.

Liam Smith’s next fight is just around the corner as he faces 19-0 Irishman Aaron McKenna on the Chris Eubank Jr vs Conor Benn undercard on April 26th.

Could Liam Smith Have Chris Eubank Jr Trilogy Next If Both Win On April 26th?

Although there is no guarantee that Liam Smith‘s next fight will end in triumph, boxing fans are also talking about other potential fights moving forward at middleweight for the Liverpudlian.

One fight that makes total sense is a trilogy with Chris Eubank Jr. Should both Smith and ‘NextGen’ win on April 26th, a trilogy bout could be on the cards next before the end of the year to settle their rivalry once and for all.

The scores are currently 1-1, with Smith winning the first fight by knockout before Eubank Jr got revenge by knockout in the rematch. A third fight makes sense for both men, provided they both leave the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium victorious on April 26th.

Should ‘Beefy’ win his next fight on the Chris Eubank Jr vs Conor Benn undercard, another option could be a world title shot at 160-pounds. One last roll of the dice at world level seems fair for Smith, who has shown he is a world class fighter on various occasions.

Smith may well chase one final world title shot against any of the champions. This includes Erislandy Lara, Carlos Adames or even Janibek Alimkhanuly. The 36-year-old would likely be an underdog with the best UK betting apps in all three, but would be a credible opponent for any of them.

The likelihood is that ‘Beefy’ would be an underdog with the best UK online bookmakers against Eubank Jr or any of these world champions in his next fight. But first, he must beat Aaron McKenna before he can dream of even bigger fights between now and the end of his career.
