Jamie Carragher and Gary Neville have made contrasting Liverpool Premier League title predictions, as the Reds push to add Alexander Isak to their ranks.
Isak has hinted he wants to leave Newcastle United this summer.
Liverpool are negotiating to sign him, but have yet to reach an agreement with the Magpies.
Fabrizio Romano Claims Alexander Isak Only Wants to Join Liverpool
Earlier this month, renowned journalist Fabrizio Romano claimed Alexander Isak did not want to play for Newcastle. The Swede only had eyes for Liverpool, who are 19/10 to win the Premier League with UK betting sites. The Reds were also supposedly preparing an offer, and would launch it if Newcastle opened the door.
“Liverpool maintain their focus on Alexander Isak for the final weeks of the summer window,” wrote Romano on X (formerly Twitter).
“New proposal, ready to be submitted if Newcastle open doors to the move. Isak maintains his position; he doesn’t want to play or stay at Newcastle, he wants to leave and join LFC.”
On Tuesday, Romano reaffirmed that the Merseysiders were going to table another offer before the transfer window closed.
Romano added:
“Liverpool will bid again for Isak, as always planned since July if/when Newcastle open doors to his exit. No changes.”

According to reports, Liverpool saw a whopping £110 million bid rejected by Newcastle.
But according to the Alexander Isak next club odds – these suggest the Merseyside move is still going to happen.
Carragher and Neville Clash Over How Isak Would Impact Liverpool’s Premier League Title Charge
Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher thinks Alexander Isak will end up at Anfield. However, he does not believe the Reds would run away with the Premier League title if the striker joins.
When asked if Isak would join Liverpool, Neville told Sky Sports:
“Yeah, I think so, but I don’t get this narrative of Liverpool are going to run away with it.
“If you look at history, it could tell you that it’s not just about having the best players, it’s about having the best team, and sort of making that balance right, and at the weekend [Community Shield loss to Crystal Palace] it didn’t quite look right.”
He added:
“I think we will have a title race, and I think there’s a lot of talk.
“It’s not just about spending lots of money and buying the best players, you’ve still got to manage that team and make it work and have a nice balance to it.”

Man Utd legend Gary Neville disagreed with his peer, saying that buying Isak would make Liverpool massive favourites for the title.
“Liverpool won it really comfortably last year and have had a great transfer window.
“If they get Isak, which it looks like he’s agitating for a move, then it will make them massive favourites. But Manchester City, Arsenal, Chelsea, I think will push them closer than last year.”
Liverpool beat runners-up Arsenal to the title by a massive 10 points last season. This summer, they have bought £300 million worth of new players, signing Florian Wirtz, Hugo Ekitike, and Jeremie Frimpong, among others.
There have also been a few departures, including Trent Alexander-Arnold, Luis Diaz, and Darwin Nunez.
The Premier League holders begin their title defence with a clash against Bournemouth on Friday, August 15.
