Marcus Rashford Nails His Colours To The Mast As He Discusses His Future

Marcus Rashford has one wish for Christmas this year, and it’s to become a permanent player at Barcelona. 

The England international has rejuvenated his career since leaving Manchester United for the Nou Camp in the summer.

Rashford moved to the Catalan giants on loan, with an option to make the move permanent for £30million at the end of the season.

The 28-year-old has scored twice and assisted eight in LaLiga, contributing to another four goals in the Champions League.

For Rashford, the opportunity to stay at Barcelona beyond the season is a no-brainer.

When asked by Spanish publication Sport, he said: “Of course, what I want is to stay at Barça.

“It’s the ultimate goal, but it’s not the reason I’m training hard and giving my all. The purpose is to win. Barça is a huge, fantastic club, built to win titles.

“I’m settling in really well at the club and in the city. From the moment I arrived, I felt very welcomed.

“For me, the reason I’m here is to help the team win trophies; last season was fantastic, but life moves very fast, things change, and the goal is to repeat those successes.

“I’m totally focused on that. Everything has been fantastic with the staff and my teammates; I have no complaints.”

Rashford left his boyhood club under a cloud following a disagreement with management and accusations that he had downtooled on the pitch.

He added: “I can’t be in a place where there aren’t high expectations; for me, it’s harder to stay motivated and give my best at a club where the demands aren’t at their peak.

“I’m in the perfect place and environment to continue my journey as a footballer, so I’m just trying to give my best every day and help the team win. We’ll see what happens next summer.”

Joshua Zirkzee is closing in on a move to Roma after the two clubs reportedly reached an agreement over the weekend.

The Dutchman will move to Rome on loan with an obligation to buy if the club secures Champions League football.

He’s remained on the periphery of the first team this season, with Ruben Amorim starting him in just four league games.

United are also looking to bolster their midfield and have targeted Bournemouth’s Alex Scott.

The Cherries and former Bristol City team-mate Antoine Semenyo is also a target, and will have plenty of suitors in the first two weeks of the January window.

That’s because he has a £65million release clause and United face competition from Liverpool, Manchester City and Chelsea for his signature.
