Mohamed Salah set more history for Liverpool against Manchester City in what has been a record-breaking season.

The Egyptian superstar scored Liverpool’s opener before providing the assist for Dominik Szoboszlai in a 2-0 win for the Reds.

Salah has been breaking records left, right and centre in a season that is surely to go down in history.

He looks certain to be crowned the player of the season and appears to be in the race for the Ballon D’Or.

Despite Salah’s many records this season, he is still yet to sign a new contract with the Reds despite helping them go 11 points clear at the top of the Premier League table with his 10/10 performance against City.

Here, we look at the records that Salah set or matched during Liverpool’s massive victory over Manchester City.

Mohamed Salah Sets More History In Record-Breaking Season

Salah Now Joint-Third On Liverpool’s All-Time Scoring List

Mohamed Salah is joint-third when it comes to the record of Liverpool’s highest scorers of all time.

The Egyptian is level on 241 goals with Gordon Hodgson – who played for the Reds between 1925 and 1936.

He will likely need to sign a new contract if he is to catch up with Roger Hunt – though Ian Rush at the top might be out of reach.

Salah has 44 goals to catch up with Hunt’s 285 and 105 to move level with Rush on 346.

First Player To 25 Goals and 15 Assists In Premier League Season

Mohamed Salah set this record with his 25th Premier League goal of the season. He also moved to 16 assists for the campaign by setting up Dominik Szoboszlai.

Thierry Henry came close to this record in 2002-03 where he came one goal short of 25 despite making 20 assists.

Salah looks on course to become the first player since Henry to hit 20+ goals and 20+ assists in a season.

In terms of goals and assists in a Premier League season he is now on 41 – six off Alan Shearer and Andy Cole’s record of 47.

Salah Becomes First Player To Score And Assist In Both Games Against Reigning Champions

Mohamed Salah set this record after also scoring and assisting in Liverpool’s 2-0 victory over Manchester City at Anfield.

In that game he played a perfect cross for Cody Gakpo to tap home before scoring from the penalty spot.

Salah Sets Record For 40+ Goal Involvements

Mohamed Salah became the first player in history to register 40+ goal involvements in two different seasons.

The Egyptian superstar previously got 58 goal contributions with 44 goals and 14 assists in 2017-18 – his first year at Liverpool.

Salah has 51 goal involvements after adding to his tally against City and looks set to beat his personal record this season.

First Player to 50+ Goal Involvements Across Europe’s Top Five Leagues This Season

Another record for Mohamed Salah is that he became the first player in Europe’s top-five leagues to hit 50+ goal involvements in 2024-25.

He is followed by Raphinha (40), Harry Kane (39), Omar Marmoush (37) and Robert Lewandowski (35).

Salah Sets Record Last Achieved By Lionel Messi

Liverpool’s star player has now scored and assisted in 11 Premier League games this season. To put this into the context, the previous record for this was seven.

This is the most by a player in a single season in one of Europe’s top-five leagues since Lionel Messi achieved the same number for Barcelona back in 2014-15.

Salah broke the Premier League record for scoring and assisting in a game in the 3-3 draw against Newcastle. This was the 37th time he has done so in the competition beating Wayne Rooney.

The 2-0 win over Manchester City has taken Salah’s tally for getting a goal and assist in the same game to 42 in the Premier League.

Record For Assists In A Premier League Season By Any Liverpool Player

Before this game, Salah was tied with Steve McManaman on 15 for most assists in a Premier League season by any Liverpool player.

McManaman held that record since 1995-96 but that has been beaten by Salah who is now on 16.

The all-time Premier League record is held by Thierry Henry and Kevin De Bruyne who both had 20. Salah has 11 games remaining to beat that tally.
