This week sees the Open de Espana take centre-stage on DP World Tour, with several big names and LIV Golf stars in action at Club de Campo Villa de Madrid.
A whole host of big names and talented players are teeing it up in Madrid this week, with Jon Rahm and Shane Lowry the standout names following Team Europe’s Ryder Cup success in New York a fortnight ago.
SportsCasting are on hand to provide both outright and each-way betting tips as well as in-depth analysis, predictions, a preview and the latest odds.
Open de Espana Betting Tips
Although backing winners is tricky in the world of golf sometimes, our Ryder Cup betting tips were a success a fortnight ago after predicting Team Europe to win as underdogs.
Not to mention backing Tommy Fleetwood to be Europe’s top points scorer at 11/2, as well as selecting him to win the Tour Championship a few weeks ago to clinch the FedEx Cup title on the PGA Tour.
This week, we are back with a further three selections for the Open de Espana on the DP World Tour. We have once again selected one outright betting tip and two each-way selections for this week’s event in the Spanish capital.
They are as follows:
- Jon Rahm WIN @ 7/2
- Tom McKibbin E/W @ 28/1
- Thriston Lawrence E/W @ 75/1
Open de Espana Predictions
Jon Rahm to Win @ 7/2
Two-time major champion Jon Rahm is the outright betting favourite at odds of 7/2 with golf betting sites this week, and it’s clear to see why.
Rahm has won the Open de Espana three times before. He came close to winning a fourth 12 months ago, but was beaten in a play-off by fellow countryman Angel Hidalgo.
Making his first appearance since Europe’s monumental victory at Bethpage Black at the 45th Ryder Cup, the Spaniard is undoubtedly the best player in the field.
The former US Open and Masters champion has an incredibly strong season on LIV too, with his team Legion XIII winning the Team Championship too.
The 30-year-old remains one of the best players in the world on his day, and has the capabilities to completely blow this field away if he plays his best golf in Madrid this week.
Jon Rahm’s net worth has surpasses $100m of late, and we feel he has every chance of adding to his riches this week in his home country with victory at the 2025 Open de Espana.
Although his 7/2 odds are fairly short, we still feel there is value in backing Rahm. Hence why he is the first name in our Open de Espana betting tips for this week.
Tom McKibbin Each-Way @ 28/1
In terms of an each-way selection, fellow LIV Golf star and Legion XIII teammate of Rahm’s Tom McKibbin is our first pick to finish inside the top 10.
The Northern Irishman finished just outside the top 10 last week at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship, and would have been well in contention if it wasn’t for an eight on the 18th hole on Friday.
The 22-year-old has shown just how good a player he is this year on LIV. McKibbin finished T4 at LIV Golf Andalucia this season, as well as a T5 finish at LIV Golf Dallas back in June too.
He also had several other top 20 finishes and continues to improve week on week. After a strong showing last week in Scotland, we feel this week could be another relatively successful one for the youngster.
On his day, McKibbin is capable of big things. Although he mightn’t win the Open de Espana, he presents great value at odds of 28/1 as our first each-way selection.
With the Rory McIlroy next tournament not for another week, this leaves the door open for plenty of other players, including McKibbin, in Madrid this week.
Thriston Lawrence Each-Way @ 75/1
Our third and final selection of Open de Espana betting tips sees South African golfer Thriston Lawrence selected as an each-way fancy at lucrative odds of 75/1.
Lawrence has shown on countless occasions that he has what it takes to win on the DP World Tour. He has five European Tour victories to his name, including just over a month ago at the Omega European Masters.
The 28-year-old can be inconsistent at times, but when he’s on song he is an exceptionally talented golfer.
Lawrence was in action last week at the Sanderson Farms Championship on the PGA Tour Fall Series, but didn’t bring his best stuff. That being said, there were some signs that he is knocking on the door of success once again.
As a multiple European Tour winner and naturally gifted player, Thriston Lawrence presents great each-way value to finish inside the top 10 this week at odds of 75/1.
Open de Espana Preview
All eyes are on the Club de Campo Villa de Madrid this week as the DP World Tour heads to Spain for the popular and ever competitive Open de Espana.
Some of the best players on the European Tour, as well as some LIV Golf stars and PGA Tour players, are in action this week.
There is a total of $3.25m in prize money on the table, with the eventual winner pocketing $552,500. Defending champion Angel Hidalgo is in action, looking to go back-to-back and fend off competition from the likes of Jon Rahm, Shane Lowry and Patrick Reed.
Four of Europe’s Ryder Cup stars featured at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship last week, with just two in action this week in Spain. Both Rahm and Lowry are two of the standout names in the Open de Espana field this week.
The Open de Espana is a straight stroke-play event over 72 holes with a half-way cut. The final group are expected to tee off at approximately 11am on Sunday.
So, who will reign supreme at Club de Campo Villa de Madrid this week and claim victory at the 2025 Open de Espana come Sunday after 72 holes?

Open de Espana Odds
Two-time major champion and three time Open de Espana winner Jon Rahm is unsurprisingly the overriding favourite to win this week at odds of 7/2.
Joaquin Niemann has the most individual LIV Golf wins in history with six titles, and he is quite rightly amongst the favourites this wee in Madrid at odds of 9/1.
The usual suspects on the European Tour such as Marco Penge (18/1), Rasmus Neergaard-Petersen (20/1), Kristoffer Reitan (22/1) and David Puig (14/1) are also amongst the favourites.
Shane Lowry, the man who sank the winning putt for Team Europe at the 2025 Ryder Cup in New York, is also back in action for the first time since Bethpage and is 22/1 to win the Open de Espana.
LIV Golf stars Patrick Reed (25/1) and Tom McKibbin (28/1) are also fancied at rather appealing odds. In total, four of the top 10 favourites this week at Club de Campo Villa de Madrid are LIV Golf players.
Several other big names are priced rather lucratively, so be sure to check out the full list off odds at your chosen bookmaker.
