Real Madrid have reportedly decided to give Kylian Mbappe the No. 10 jersey in the 2025/26 season.
The legendary number is currently vacant after Luka Modric left as a free agent after the FIFA Club World Cup.
Mbappe has been wearing the No. 10 for the France national team since the 2017/18 season.
Real Madrid to Make Record Money From Kylian Mbappe No. 10 Jersey Sales
The No. 10 jersey is one of the most prestigious and significant in football. Some of the greatest players in history, including Pele, Diego Maradona, Zinedine Zidane, Ronaldinho, and Lionel Messi, have donned it, adding to its legacy.
At Real Madrid, Luka Modric got the No. 10 jersey in the 2017/18 season, following the departure of James Rodriguez. Now, Kylian Mbappe is set to inherit it from the Swansea City minority owner, and Los Blancos are likely to make millions off it.
Madrid Earned £694,000 from Mbappe Jerseys on Launch Day
Real Madrid announced Kylian Mbappe as their new Galactico on July 16, 2024. Five days prior, his No. 9 jerseys went on sale across retail shops and their official online store.
On the day of launch, Real Madrid earned over £694,000 in online sales alone. Their retail stores, meanwhile, were averaging 7,000 ‘Mbappe No. 9’ jerseys per day.
Thanks to his World Cup heroics with France, the ‘Mbappe #10’ brand is one of the most popular in the business. By giving Mbappe the No. 10 jersey, Real Madrid will be able to tap into it. After selling several hundred thousand Mbappe #9 jerseys, Madrid expect to rake in record money from #10 sales this summer.

Madridistas Believe Mbappe Deserves to Wear the No. 10
Except for some Arda Guler fans, most Madridistas have welcomed Kylian Mbappe’s switch to No. 10, calling it the “perfect” move. They believe it goes well with Mbappe’s brand, and he is comfortable wearing the prestigious number.

@Queenstey took aim at those who wanted Arda Guler to take the No. 10.
“Arda Turkish fans wanted him to get the #10 but couldn’t buy his current jersey number for over 4 years now, Mbappe fans and even haters made his #9 the highest sold out but you want Madrid to give him the #10. Kylian Mbappe is in no way comparable to any Madrid player innit”

@RkFutbol said the number was always going to go to Mbappe, as it also ensures commercial success for the club.
“You are dumb if you thought anyone other than Kylian F****g Mbappe was getting that No.10 shirt
And besides, the club benefits a lot from this number change.
So I don’t see the problem in this”
Currently on holiday, Mbappe will return to Real Madrid training on August 4. He missed the initial Club World Cup matches in the US after being hospitalised with gastroenteritis.
