Rory McIlroy believes he’s a better player now than ever as he bids to break his Masters duck at Augusta National next month.
The 35-year-old is fresh off a second Players Championship crown after beating JJ Spaun in a three-hole play-off at TPC Sawgrass last weekend, known as the ‘fifth major’ and the most prestigious event on tour outside the main four.
It was McIlroy’s second win of the season following triumph at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am in February. Amid the impressive form, he’s a 7/1 shot with the best golf betting sites to win the Masters.
The Irishman’s best finish at Augusta came as runner-up three years ago behind two-time champion Scottie Scheffler. From 2014 to 2022, McIlroy finished inside the top ten in seven of nine starts at the only major he’s never landed.
McIlroy insists he is better than ever heading into the Masters this year and almost every golf fan on the planet is desperate to see him complete the career Grand Slam.
2025 marks the first year McIlroy has won twice on U.S. soil in a calendar year before the Masters.
Speaking after his Players success, the world number two said:
“I feel like I’m a better player now than I ever have been, and it’s nice to see the fruits of my labour paying off.
