Several greens and fairways at Bethpage Black have been flooded with golf fans fearing the 2025 Ryder Cup will get postponed.
After torrential rainfall in New York, several greens and fairways have been flooded less than 24 hours before the 45th Ryder Cup gets underway.
Will The 2025 Ryder Cup Get Postponed?
As the 45th Ryder Cup edges closer at Bethpage Black, fans are at fever-pitch over the biennial golf event between USA and Europe.
This year, Keegan Bradley captains the US side with Luke Donald serving a second term as the European captain.
It’s been 13 years since Europe last won the Ryder Cup in America, with Donald a co hoping to replicate the ‘Miracle of Medinah’ from 2012.
With the Ryder Cup 2025 now less than 24 hours away, fans are ready for a truly epic three days of golf action at Bethpage Black in Farmingdale, New York.
However, the Ryder Cup could be in doubt now due to torrential rainfall in the Bethpage area. Severe thunderstorms and heavy rain has caused several greens, fairways and bunkers to flood at Bethpage Black.
There is no chance of the Ryder Cup being cancelled, but postponing the event is a genuine possibility after this extreme rainfall.
This year’s Ryder Cup venue is one of the toughest golf courses in all of the US. It is an extremely long golf course, which could prove even trickier now with soft fairways and less run on the ball.
That being said, a softer golf course generally means it’s easier for the world’s best players. If that’s the case, then we could be in for an incredibly high standard of golf at the Ryder Cup 2025 over the course of the next three days.

Is The Ryder Cup Facing Delay Due To Greens & Fairways Flooding?
The Ryder Cup Opening Ceremony was brought forward to Wednesday afternoon due to the rain forecast for Thursday in the New York area of Farmingdale.
Bethpage Black greenkeepers knew about the threat of rain, but might not have expected just as much rainfall in such a short period of time.
With several greens, bunkers and fairways flooded, there is a genuine possibility that the Ryder Cup will get postponed or at least delayed by a few hours.
The weather forecast is predicting a far nicer stretch from Friday to Sunday when the Ryder Cup is actually taking place, but Thursday’s torrential rain has cast some serious doubt on the biennial event.
Team USA’s Ryder Cup record when playing at home is incredibly strong, winning 18 of their 22 home Ryder Cup’s and losing just four. If they are to extend this impressive record, they may be forced to wait due to the possibility of delays at Bethpage.
Although the drainage is undoubtedly top class at a golf course like Bethpage, there is only so much water the greens, fairways and bunkers can take in any given period of time.
Due to the nature of the torrential rainfall in the New York area, Ryder Cup postponement is a real possibility.

Torrential Rain Causes Flooding At Bethpage Black
As you can see from the various social media posts, there are puddles everywhere at Bethpage Black and greens almost fully underwater.
Donald Trump’s Ryder Cup visit is set for Friday, but the US President might not fancy getting caught in torrential rainfall at Bethpage Black.
Although the weather in the Farmingdale area is meant to clear up overnight, the greenkeepers and course maintenance team will have their work cut out if they want to avoid a Ryder Cup postponement.
Teams of people will be out on every hole sweeping the water off the greens and fairways, with bunkers draining fairly quickly too.
Given the magnitude of the event, the 2025 Ryder Cup is unlikely to get postponed just because of some rain.

AI has predicted the Ryder Cup 2025 outcome at Bethpage Black with Keegan Bradley’s side coming out on top, but it certainly didn’t foresee a potential postponement due to torrential rainfall.
It remains to be seen whether or not the Ryder Cup is actually postponed or delayed, or if it will proceed as planned.
The first tee shot is scheduled for 12.10pm BST (07.10am local time) on Friday for the first foursomes match between Europe and America, so time will tell whether that goes ahead as planned or not.
If there is a slight delay to play at Bethpage Black, it won’t be for long.
