The Southampton EFL Championship Fixtures for 2025-26 have been confirmed, as the Saints host Wrexham on the opening weekend.
It’s a blockbuster start to the season for Southampton as they host Hollywood-owned Wrexham on the opening weekend.
Southampton kick off their EFL Championship campaign at St Mary’s against the Welsh side on Saturday, 9 August at 12:30pm.
Backed by A-list actors Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, Wrexham won their third straight promotion last season to earn a return to the second tier for the first time since 1982.
Reynolds and McElhenney welcomed new ‘billionaire’ investors to the club last term, so many expect Wrexham to continue improving.
After that, the Saints travel to fellow relegated side Ipswich Town on 16 August.
It’s then a home game against Stoke City, followed by Watford away to round out the Saints’ opening block of fixtures.
Two massive dates for the diary are of course the South Coast Derby’s against Portsmouth.
Saints host Pompey on Saturday, 13 September. Currently scheduled for 3:00pm, this kickoff time is highly likely to be moved for TV scheduling as it is currently during the Saturday 3:00pm blackout window.
The reverse fixture at Fratton Park will be played on Saturday, 24 January. Also down as a 3:oopm, kickoff, this one will likely be moved as well.
Southampton’s final match of the season will be away to Preston North End on Saturday, 2 May.

Southampton FC News As Transfer Rumours Gather Pace
It’s been a quiet window so far for the Saints in terms of incoming deals.
The only confirmed arrival so far is the £3 million signing of 20-year-old Hoffenheim defender Joshua Quarshie.
But with Kyle Walker-Peters leaving, the club are reportedly keen on signing Scotland right-back Max Johnstone from Strum Graz.
Nottingham Forest midfielder Lewis O’Brien is also reportedly on new boss Will Still’s radar.
Funds for new purchases will be boosted by the reported £15 million sale of Kamaldeen Sulemana to Atalanta.
The Ghanaian is said to be close to a deal that would see him link up with former manager Ivan Juric.
Goalkeeper Joe Lumley has also departed on a free transfer, singing with Championship rivals Bristol City.

The Puma design on show is very reminiscent of the 1976 FA Cup-winning side, marking 50 years since Southampton’s only major trophy.
Although unconfirmed, multiple sources have shared the leaked images, suggesting there may be truth to the leaks.
