Brentford will demand £10 million in compensation for manager Thomas Frank to join Tottenham, according to the latest reports.
Tottenham are said to be close to appointing the Brentford manager as their new boss.
Thomas Frank, 51, has been lined up to take charge after Spurs parted ways with former manager Ange Postecoglou over the weekend.
But in order to land their chosen replacement, they will need to pay a significant fee.
Brentford Demanding £10 Million Thomas Frank Compensation
According to a report by The Telegraph, Brentford are insistent that Tottenham pay Frank’s release clause.
That figure is believed to be around the £10 million mark, though the report goes on to say that progress has been made in recent days.
Both clubs are said to be optimistic that a deal can be reached.
Danish coach Frank is thought to be keen on the switch from west to north London.
He is also likely to take a number of his Brentford backroom staff with him, which will complicate the finer details of any agreement.
Frank has a close relationship with Tottenham technical director Johan Lange. The pair worked together and even shared an office at Danish side Lyngby.
As a result, Frank has emerged as the frontrunner to be the next Tottenham manager.

Tottenham Coaching Staff Exodus After Postecoglou Sacked
It’s not just Ange Postecoglou who has left Spurs in recent days.
Assistant coaches Mile Jedinak, Nick Montgomery and Sérgio Raimundo have also departed.
Goalkeeping coach Rob Burch and senior assistant Matt Wells have stayed put, for now.
But both are not guaranteed to remain in place one a new manager is appointed.
Postecoglou Latest Tottenham Manager Sacked
The news of Ange Postecoglou’s sacking was met with sadness and anger by some Tottenham fans.
Having just ended Spurs’ 17-year trophy doubt with a Europa League win, many hoped to see big Ange in the dugout again next season.
But Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy was not able to look past the team’s awful Premier League campaign.
A 17th-placed finish saw them end the season with the most league defeats ever for a side not to be relegated.
Postecoglou is now the fourth Tottenham manager sacked or in as many years.
Jose Mourinho, Nuno Espírito Santo and Antonio Conte have all departed as Spurs boss since 2021.
Thomas Frank Compensation Would Be Among Biggest Manager Fees Ever
While the mooted £10 million in compensation that Spurs might have to pat for Frank is significant, it’s not the biggest sum ever.
That honour goes to Graham Potter.
It was originally reported that the former Chelsea boss required a £15 million compensation fee when the Blues poached him from Premier League rivals Brighton in 2022.
But Chelsea’s accounts from that season later revealed that Todd Boehly had spent £21.5 million on securing Potter’s services.
That remains a world record compensation fee for a manager.
With now West Ham boss Potter lasting less than a full season at Stamford Bridge, it may not have been the wisest use of funds.
Should Tottenham stump up the required £10 million for Thomas Frank, they will hope for a more successful story.
