Victor Wembanyama single-handedly dismantled the Pacers on Sunday night in San Antonio, as his 31 points, 12 rebounds, 6 assists, and 6 blocks propelled the Spurs to a convincing home victory by a score of 117-105, their second in a row after their win over Oklahoma City.

Victor Wembanyama gave everything against the Pacers on Sunday evening in a Frost Bank Center that was overjoyed after the Spurs’ 132-118 win over Oklahoma City three days earlier.

Pascal Siakam and the Indiana defense did their utmost to stop him, even if it meant walloping him and racking up obvious fouls, but the French giant was simply unstoppable. Two-handed dunk, step-back from deep, mid-range fadeaway … Victor Wembanyama had an answer for everything, and led his team to a convincing victory over the eighth-placed team in the Eastern Conference

The Pacers, like their young All-Star Tyrese Haliburton (12 points on 0/6 three-pointers), weren’t having much success behind the arc. Fortunately, they were able to count on an unlikely leader: veteran TJ McConnell, who kept them in the game for a long time, finishing as his team’s top scorer (26 points).

Ahead at the break 52-48, the San Antonio Spurs maintained their lead at the start of the second half and kicked things into high gear during the last four minutes of the game—once again thanks to Wembanyama, who made a string of free throws.

“Everyone sees his basketball skills. But what’s most unique for his young age is his composure. He always acts with class on the floor, and his teammates realize how mature he is,” praised his coach Gregg Popovich.
