On Thanksgiving Day 2021, the Buffalo Bills beat the New Orleans Saints 31-6. However, they lost All-Pro cornerback Tre’Davious White for a year with a knee injury. On Thanksgiving Day 2022, the Bills beat the Detroit Lions 28-25. However, they lost All-Pro pass-rusher Von Miller went down with a knee injury. The initial reports were unclear as to how long he’d be out. Now that he’s had an MRI, the latest Von Miller injury update doesn’t provide that much more clarity for the Bills, unfortunately.

The latest Von Miller injury update isn’t definitive

After leaving the game early against the Detroit Lions, the Buffalo Bills were cautiously optimistic about the long-term prognosis for Von Miller’s knee. NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport tweeted, “The initial diagnosis for #Bills star Von Miller is a knee sprain, source said. That would be a good outcome. No one has ruled out a more serious injury, but some hope. He has an MRI and other tests tomorrow to confirm.”

On Friday, the Bills’ star got the MRI, and the biggest piece of the Von Miller injury update is that it is not a torn ACL, which would have ended his season.

However, the knee injury is a lateral meniscus tear, which will likely require surgery at some point. Right now, Miller is planning on evaluating the damage again after a week to 10 days of healing, when he’ll seek a second opinion and then decide what the best course of action is.

If Miller and his doctors do decide he can play and not risk further injury, the pass-rushing maestro would likely be back late in the regular season.

The Bills’ schedule from here on out is favorable

The Bills are in a decent spot with six regular season games to play after the most recent Von Miller injury update.

At 8-3, the Bills are virtually tied with the Miami Dolphins (if they beat the Houston Texans in Week 12) at the top of the AFC East. Right now, the Dolphins own the tie-breaker after beating the Bills in Week 3.

However, the Bills can remedy that with a win in the rematch in Week 15. Buffalo also has two division games vs. the New England Patriots and one vs. the New York Jets.

The Bills are a game behind the Chiefs in the loss column, so they would need a little help to get the No. 1 seed in the AFC and a first-round bye. All the Bills need is to toe, though, as the team’s Week 6 win in Kansas City gives the Bills an edge. Josh Allen and company also have the edge over the Tennessee Titans after a Week 2 victory.

Now, the Buffalo needs to do its best to win out and hope the next Von Miller injury update is even better than the first.
