Former Bengal Vontaze Burfict was arrested in Las Vegas over the weekend, and the reason why is something out of a comedy movie.

Vontaze Burfict has always been a troublemaker in the NFL. Burfict has been fined and suspended numerous times during his eight-year career with the Cincinnati Bengals and Oakland Raiders, but his latest incident might be the most bizarre yet.

During a trip to Las Vegas over the weekend, Burfict got into an altercation with a security guard and was taken into custody for misdemeanor battery after he couldn’t find a secluded restaurant called Secret Pizza.

Vontaze Burfict has been out of a job all season

Vontaze Burfict still has plenty of game left in him at 30 years of age, but he hasn’t been able to find a job in the NFL all season. The longtime Bengal hasn’t played in the league since September of 2019 with the Raiders. Talent has never been the issue with Burfict, though. He’s been suspended four different times during his career for various on-field incidents.

Burfict earned his first suspension in 2016 while he was still with the Bengals. The linebacker crushed Antonio Brown with a helmet-to-helmet hit in a playoff game against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Brown wound up with a concussion from the hit, and Burfict was suspended for four games.

The next year, Burfict was suspended another five games for a dirty hit on Anthony Sherman during a preseason game against the Kansas City Chiefs. Later that season, he was ejected from another game after making contact with a referee following a late hit penalty.

In 2018, Burfict was suspended for a different reason than an on-field incident. He had to serve four games for violating the league’s performance-enhancing drug policy.

Burfict moved to the Raiders in 2019, and his reckless playing style followed. Four games into the season, Burfict was ejected for a helmet-to-helmet hit on Indianapolis Colts tight end Jack Doyle. He was later suspended for the rest of the season without pay.

No team has shown interest in Burfict since.

Burfict has been away from the NFL field for over a year now, but his bad behavior has continued into his personal life. Over the weekend, Burfict took a trip to Las Vegas with some friends, but whatever happened in Vegas surely didn’t stay there.

Burfict was arrested Saturday for misdemeanor battery after getting into an altercation with a security guard at the Cosmopolitan resort, casino, and hotel, according to TMZ Sports. The reason behind the fight? Burfict and some friends were searching for a hidden restaurant called Secret Pizza, and apparently, they weren’t having much luck.

After an unsuccessful search for the secret restaurant, Burfict got into an argument with a Cosmo security guard. The argument eventually got physical, and Burfict was detained and later arrested that night. He never even found that pizza.

Will Vontaze Burfict ever play in the NFL again?

Burfict still has the talent to contribute to an NFL team in 2020, but his chances of playing in the league again are slim. The linebacker has proven time and time again that he’s a dirty player. He’s been fined and suspended numerous times for dirty hits, and he never learned his lesson.

If his on-field antics weren’t enough to keep him out of a job, his off-the-field issues surely will be.
