The Arizona Cardinals‘ 2021 campaign was a tale of two seasons, and they’ll be seeking more consistency as they navigate their 2022 NFL schedule.

Jetting out to a 7-0 start that included five double-digit wins and dominant performances on both sides of the ball, they asserted themselves as a power to be reckoned with in the NFC. Super Bowl dreams danced about their heads as fans started salivating over the idea of quarterback Kyler Murray hoisting the MVP trophy.

But Murray wasn’t the same after a Week 13 return from an ankle injury that kept him out of action for three weeks, and the Cardinals sputtered down the stretch. The season ended with an embarrassing 34-11 loss to the Los Angeles Rams in the Wild Card Round, with the young signal-caller making numerous bone-headed decisions as he scrambled for his life.

Now, DeAndre Hopkins is suspended for six weeks following a violation of the league’s performance-enhancing drug (PED) policy, but the Cardinals are still gearing up for a run at bigger and better things. Marquise “Hollywood” Brown is in town, replacing Christian Kirk as a deep threat after an unexpected departure from the Baltimore Ravens, Trey McBride heads the new crop of rookies, and the roster is banking on internal growth from the many young contributors.

Murray alone, given his talent with his right arm and his legs, should keep Arizona in contention for a playoff berth. But how high up the NFC standings can the Cardinals rise in his fourth professional go-round?
