Super Bowl Lombardi Trophy

Both teams in this year’s Super Bowl have lifted the Vince Lombardi before, but who holds the best win percentage in the big game between the Philadelphia Eagles and Kansas City Chiefs?

Kansas City Chiefs Super Bowl history

  • Super Bowl I: Green Bay Packers 35, Kansas City Chiefs 10
  • Super Bowl IIII: Kansas City Chiefs 23, Minnesota Vikings 7
  • Super Bowl LIV: Kansas City Chiefs 31, San Francisco 49ers 20
  • Super Bowl LV: Tampa Bay Buccaneers 31, Kansas City Chiefs 9
  • Super Bowl LVII: Kansas City Chiefs 38, Philadelphia Eagles 35
  • Super Bowl LVIII: Kansas City Chiefs 25, San Francisco 49ers 22 (OT)
  • Super Bowl LIX: Kansas City Chiefs vs Philadelphia Eagles

Chiefs Super Bowl winning record: 4-2

The Kansas City Chiefs have one of the best Super Bowl winning records in NFL history, with only three teams holding a better win percentage having appeared in more than two games.

With four wins in six games, the Chiefs have a .667 win rate when reaching the Super Bowl.

Before 2020 the Chiefs had won just one Super Bowl from their two appearances at the coveted game, but since Patrick Mahomes arrived in Kansas City things have been very different.

Mahomes won a ring at his first Super Bowl against the San Francisco 49ers and just one year later he was back on the biggest stage, but this time he had less luck.

After a convincing loss to Tom Brady’s Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Super Bowl LV, the Chiefs were unable to make three Super Bowl appearances in a row with Joe Burrow’s Cincinnati Bengals stealing an overtime victory at Arrowhead Stadium in the 2021 AFC Championship game.

Since their loss to the Bengals in 2021, the Chiefs have made three Super Bowls in a row. Wins against the Eagles in 2023 and the 49ers in 2024 have set the Chiefs up for a historic three-peat, but Philadelphia will have revenge on their mind.

Philadelphia Eagles Super Bowl history

  • Super Bowl XV: Oakland Raiders 27, Philadelphia Eagles 10
  • Super Bowl XXXIX: New England Patriots 24, Philadelphia Eagles 21
  • Super Bowl LII: Philadelphia Eagles 41, New England Patriots 33
  • Super Bowl LVII: Kansas City Chiefs 38, Philadelphia Eagles 35
  • Super Bowl LIX: Kansas City Chiefs vs Philadelphia Eagles

Eagles Super Bowl winning record: 1-3

The Philadelphia Eagles come nowhere near the Chiefs in terms of Super Bowl success, with just four appearances at the season finale in the history. With just one win in four Super Bowl’s, the Eagles have a .250 winning record at the game.

Philadelphia lost both of the first two Super Bowl’s they appeared in – against the Oakland Raiders in 1981 and then the New England Patriots in 2005.

12 years after losing to the Patriots at Super Bowl XXXIX the Eagles had a chance to get revenge with another head to head against New England, and in 2017 they were able to finally win their first franchise Super Bowl.

The Eagles most recent Super Bowl of course came against the Chiefs just two years ago and Jalen Hurts will be keen to get his revenge his season, as well as preventing Mahomes achieving a historic three-peat.
