Lionel Messi is a professional soccer player from Argentina. A member of French team Paris Saint-Germain starting in the 2021-2022 season, he is the leader of the Argentina national team and a former star and captain of the Spanish club Barcelona.
Messi grew up playing soccer with his older brothers and cousins. He joined a local club at 4 years old He became the youngest player to represent Barcelona at 17 years old. On his 18th birthday, Messi signed a contract with Barcelona as a senior player. He has since won six Ballon d’Or awards and six European Golden Shoes. He’s considered one of the best soccer players of all time.
