The inaugural Hyde Park Darts Championship took place on Tuesday, July 8 in London, with fans reacting very different to the new outdoor darts event.

Luke Humphries, Luke Littler and Fallon Sherrock were just some of the players in action, all struggling with bizarre problems and unfamiliar obstacles.

Outdoor darts certainly isn’t something you see everyday, especially when it’s the world’s best players in action.

This is what happened at the inaugural Hyde Park Darts Championship on Tuesday, July 8 with some of the world’s best players in action in the unique outdoor darts event.

Luke Littler, who recently formed a collaboration with McDonald’s, was one of the players in action. World number one Luke Humphries also took part, as did Nathan Aspinall and Fallon Sherrock in the thrilling four-player tournament.

During the event, Littler, Humphries and co were forced to deal with several unusual and bizarre problems. Each of the players in action seemed to struggle with the tricky conditions, due to the fact the event was held outdoors.

This did make for some excellent viewing, with fans enjoying seeing their darting heroes struggle slightly. Even Russ Bray, the veteran darts referee, saw the funny side when ‘The Nuke’ his just 22 when going for treble 20 with each of his three darts.

The inaugural Hyde Park Darts Championship forced players to deal with gusts of wind, not to mention the presence of shadows. The sun was another obstacle they had to content with too.

It was apparent that some of the players weren’t too happy with how their darts were entering the board and how many shadows were interfering with the board. That being said, it threw up an interesting challenge.

Luke Humphries, whose net worth is now Ā£2m, went on to win the professional event, with Fallon Sherrock and Joe Swash being crowned champions in the Pro-Am.

Fans React To Hyde Park Outdoor Darts

With it evident that some of the world’s best darts players were struggling with bizarre problems such as wind and shadows, fans took to X (formerly Twitter) to give their opinion on the Hyde Park outdoor darts event.

Luke Littler, who tops the list of the most followed darts players in the world, was evidently struggling with the outdoor conditions. So too were others, but it seemed to effect ‘The Nuke’ considerably more than his darting peers.

There was a real mix of positive and negative feedback, with plenty of fans of the opinion that this new outdoor darts concept was borderline ridiculous:

Others felt it was a breath of fresh air and that there should be more outdoor darts events, like the one in Hyde Park, on a more regular basis:

It remains to be seen whether this Hyde Park outdoor darts event was a one-off, or if outdoor darts could perhaps be here to stay.

The likes of the World Darts Championship, World Matchplay and other majors will always remain indoors, but there could be a market for outdoor darts, that is for sure.

Some fans enjoyed seeing the best players in the world struggling, making it far more relatable for your average Joe Bloggs who throws darts from time to time.
