The Alexander Isak stats so far this season show Liverpool’s record signing has cost five times more per goal involvement than Newcastle’s Nick Woltemade.

With the cost of proven elite goal-scorers increasing every year, clubs are desperate to secure value for their money.

But 10 games into the Premier League season, some of the most high-profile arrivals are providing a better return on investment than others.

Liverpool, Arsenal, Newcastle, Manchester United and Chelsea have all splashed the cash on big-money strikers over the summer, with Liverpool spending more than £200 million on Alexander Isak and Hugo Ekitike.

While some signings have hit the ground running, others are yet to find their rhythm.

Premier League Striker Signings Cost Per Goal Involvement

Below, we have calculated the cost per goal involvement (goal or assist) for six of the most expensive striker signings in the Premier League this season.

There is plenty of football still to be played, but the difference in value for money so far is significant.

Alexander Isak Stats Show How Little Value He’s Provided

Liverpool made Alexander Isak the most expensive deadline day transfer in history when they paid Newcastle £125m for the striker.

Isak, 26, is yet to live up to his record-breaking fee.

The Swede has registered just two goal involvements to date.

He scored in September’s EFL Cup win over Championship side Southampton, and provided an assist as Liverpool lost 2-1 at Chelsea last month.

With just two goals/assists so far, he has cost Liverpool an eye-watering £62m per goal involvement at the time of writing.

That figure will obviously drop as he settles into his new team and starts scoring.

But a player with his price tag will have been expected to deliver from day one.

Liverpool fans will be hoping the Alexander Isak stats look significantly better by the end of the season.

Hugo Ekitike Providing Excellent Value For Money

While one Liverpool striker signing has flattered to deceive, another has already proven his worth.

Hugo Ekitike joined the Reds from Eintracht Frankfurt for a fee of £79m.

The Frenchman has already scored six times for Arne Slot’s side, and added an assist to give him seven total goal involvements.

This translates to a cost of £11m per G/A, more than five times better value than Isak has provided so far.

Liverpool will be reluctant to leave out such a high-profile player as Isak, but Ekitike’s form has given Arne Slot a difficult decision if he plans to start just one of the pair.

Newcastle Have Signed A Gem In Nick Woltemade

Another man who’s made an excellent start at his new club is Newcastle’s Nick Woltemade.

Many thought Newcastle replaced Isak with Brentford’s Yoane Wissa, but it’s Woltemade that’s been making the headlines.

The German was signed by Eddie Howe for £69m, and he’s performed brilliantly so far.

Still only 23, Woltemade was not predicted by many to adapt as quickly as he has to the Premier League.

But with six goals for the Toon, his £69m transfer fee equates to a cost of £12m per goal involvement.

That puts him on par with Ekitike, showing just how much value for money he’s offered Newcastle already.

Joao Pedro The Best Value Striker Signing So Far

Woltemade and Ekitike may have been good, but no big-money striker has offered better value so far than Joao Pedro.

The Brazilian followed a well-trodden path in moving to Chelsea from Brighton this summer.

At a cost of £60m, he so far has nine goal involvements in all competitions for the Blues.

This equates to a cost of just £7m per involvement, the best value of any player on our list.

And at 24, he has the potential to become a great at Stamford Bridge if he keeps up this form.

Benjamin Sesko Yet To Add Value To Manchester United

Another big-money signing that promised much was Benjamin Sesko’s £74m move to Manchester United.

The Slovenian’s arrival from RB Leipzig was touted as one of the best signings of the window.

But so far, he is yet to live up to the hype, or his hefty transfer fee.

With just three goal involvements in all competitions for United, Sesko’s cost per involvement currently stands at £25m.

Only Alexander Isak has offered a worse return so far.

Viktor Gyokeres Proving His Worth At Arsenal

And finally, we have another man who has proven a shrewd addition from his new club.

Viktor Gyokeres joined Arsenal from Sporting CP in a deal worth £64m.

The Swedish striker has netted six goals for the Gunners so far.

This equates to £11m per involvement, the same as Ekitike.

Although perhaps not scoring as many as he’d like Gyokeres has been solid, and will only improve as he develops a deeper understanding with his new teammates.
