Isak is Pingreen's Captaincy Pick for FPL Gameweek 32

Holly Shand has identified three players that can replace Chris Wood in GW30, as the FPL expert provides tips on who can fill the shoes of the Nottingham Forest striker.

Chris Wood has been a revelation for Nottingham Forest this season, scoring a remarkable 18 goals in 29 Premier League appearances.

However, the New Zealand striker has been ruled out of Nottingham Forest’s FA Cup quarter-final against Brighton on Saturday with a hip injury sustained while on international duty and is thought to remain a major doubt for the quick turnaround to play Manchester United on Tuesday.

So, with Forest’s talisman seemingly out of action, who are the best replacements ahead of the midweek round of games?

FPL GW30 Tips: Best Chris Wood Replacements

Alexander Isak vs Brentford (H)

Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak has seen his ownership decline over the last four gameweeks due to the Blank Gameweek 29, caused by the League Cup final.

However, his ownership is rapidly rising once again with Brentford and Leicester City up next, plus a home double against Manchester United and Crystal Palace in Gameweek 32.

His price tag is higher than Wood’s, but owning the Swede also feels essential for the next period of games. He and the Magpies will be on a high going into the home game against Brentford following their League Cup victory, with Isak scoring in that game and continuing his hot streak while on international duty for Sweden.

Their early exit from the FA Cup means that the Premier League is now their sole focus for the season run-in, with Isak looking to improve on his impressive tally of 19 goals and five assists this campaign. One of those goals came in the reverse of this fixture.

Jean-Philippe Mateta vs Southampton (A)

Crystal Palace’s promising run of form continues, winning four of their last five in the Premier League, as they continue to make progress towards the top half of the Premier League table.

The Eagles have scored ten goals in this period, as their attack consisting of Eberechi Eze, Ismaila Sarr and Mateta continues to prosper under Oliver Glasner.

They have a great fixture for an entry point for investment this midweek as they travel to bottom of the table Southampton.

Following this, they then host Brighton in Gameweek 31 before having a Double Gameweek 32, with tougher away trips to Manchester City and Newcastle United.

Jean-Philippe Mateta looks set to return from a head injury, having scored 12 goals this season. However, we do need to be aware that their continued involvement in the FA Cup may take priority, as they travel to Fulham on Saturday lunchtime.

Omar Marmoush vs Leicester City (H)

Despite not having any doubles in their upcoming schedule, Manchester City could benefit from an adjusted schedule over the season run-in should they progress through to the FA Cup semi-finals, making their assets wise investments.

It’s Leicester City up next and no tough fixtures in their final nine games, making Omar Marmoush a very strong option.

The Egyptian international is more than half the price of team-mate Erling Haaland, who has scored 21 goals this season.

Since arriving at the Etihad, Marmoush has been involved in all seven league games, starting six of them and racking up four goals and one assist.

All of these attacking returns have come in home games, with double digit hauls against Brighton and Newcastle United.

Over the last five gameweeks, Marmoush has produced 11 shots on goal, with six of those hitting the target and the Foxes haven’t kept a clean sheet on the road this season.
