While it’s easy to look at professional athletes as superheroes, they’re still human beings at the end of the day. That means everyone has their own habits, quirks, and preferences. During his basketball career, sharpshooter Adam Morrison was no exception.

Some of those habits, however, rubbed Morrison’s NBA teammates the wrong way. In fact, Jared Dudley once explained that the forward could be pretty disgusting behind closed doors.

Adam Morrison’s basketball career

These days, Adam Morrison has completely disappeared from the basketball landscape. During the mid-2000s, though, he proved to be a pretty big star, at least in college.

Morrison enrolled at the University of Gonzaga posted solid numbers as a freshman. He took a step forward as a sophomore but exploded during his third year on campus. With his long hair, signature mustache, and deadly shooting touch, Morrison took the nation by storm; the Bulldogs’ season ended in heartbreak, but the forward poured in 28.1 points per game, claiming the national scoring title and splitting the Oscar Robertson Award with J.J. Redick.

On the back of that campaign, Morrison entered the 2006 NBA draft. While the Charlotte Bobcats selected him with the third-overall pick, the forward wasn’t destined for stardom. After a tough rookie season—Morrison averaged 11.8 points per game buy only shot .376 from the floor—he tore his ACL in the 2007 preseason. He missed the entire campaign and, even when he returned to the court, was never the same.

After his time in Carolina concluded, Morrison joined the Los Angeles Lakers; while he won two titles in Hollywood, he barely got off the bench. He also spent some time in Europe before calling it a career.

The forward apparently had some ‘disgusting’ habits

During his time in the NBA, Adam Morrison suited up for 161 games over three seasons. While that wasn’t the longest career, he still made an impact on at least two teammates.

During the Washington Wizards 2015 media day, Jared Dudley was asked about his worst dressed or most disgusting teammate. The NBA veteran was quick to nominate Morrison for that dubious distinction.

“Adam Morrison,” Dudley said, according to Dan Steinberg of the Washington Post. “Remember Adam Morrison? He never took showers, he did the chewing tobacco that he spit all the time, and he wore the same three polos the whole year. This is a guy who made a lot of money, too, at that time. He was the face of diabetes, he was doing everything, he was on the cover of college games, he was [everywhere], and he was by far the worst and [most] disgusting.”

Dudley wasn’t the only Bobcat who noticed Morrison’s lack of hygiene, though. “He was playing like 30 minutes a game,” Dudley continued. “Gerald Wallace had to force him to take a shower one time. Had to force him. Imagine that. Imagine forcing a grown man to take a shower. He should be ashamed of himself.”

Where is Adam Morrison now?

After his NBA career concluded, Adam Morrison dropped off the map. So where did the former sharpshooter and third-overall pick end up? As it turns out, he’s living a fairly normal life.

Although there were rumors that Morrison lived in a remote, apocalypse-ready compound, that’s apparently not the case. As detailed by Bleacher Report‘s Yaron Weitzman, the former forward does identify as a libertarian and owns guns for protection, he’s more or less a “retired and extremely wealthy suburban dad.”

These days, Morrison’s main concern is his children; he also occupies his time with poker and golf. He’s also an assistant coach for his old high school program and calls Gonzaga games on the radio. Hopefully, his personal hygiene has improved over the years.
