Deshaun Watson‘s nightmarish 2021 offseason just took an unexpected turn. On Tuesday, the Houston Texans quarterback was named in a sexual assault lawsuit filed on behalf of a female masseuse who claims Watson went “too far” during a massage.

Watson immediately denied the sexual assault claims, and he said he’s looking forward to clearing his name.

Deshaun Watson named in sexual assault lawsuit

On Tuesday night, Texas-based attorney Tony Buzbee announced a sexual assault lawsuit filed against Deshaun Watson in a Facebook post.

“I am extremely proud to represent those who have no perceived power against those who have PERCEIVED power,” Buzbee wrote in the post. “Things are changing in this country, in this great state, and in this great city. And I feel like it’s for the better, for all of us! Today we filed suit against Deshaun Watson.”

The suit alleges Watson went “foo far” during a massage with a female masseuse, according to Isiah Carey of FOX26.

“Too many times women have put up with behavior that we all know no one should put up with,” Buzbee continued. “Should we make excuses for the famous? Or those who hold special positions, or quarterbacks on a local professional football team? I don’t think so! All people are equal, and all deserve dignity and respect. This case we just filed against Watson isn’t about money—it’s about dignity and stopping behavior that should be stopped, NOW! Stay tuned for details. LET ME SAY THIS. I’m a Marine. I’m not easily intimidated.”

Deshaun Watson immediately denies sexual assault claim

A mere hours after the lawsuit was brought forth, Deshaun Watson responded by vehemently denying the claims in a Twitter post.

“As a result of a social media post by a publicity-seeking plaintiff’s lawyer, I recently became aware of a lawsuit that has apparently been filed against me,” Watson wrote on Twitter. “I have not yet seen the complaint, but I know this: I have never treated any woman with anything other than the utmost respect.”

Watson also claimed that Buzbee, who stated the suit wasn’t about money in his Facebook post, demanded a large settlement before filing the suit. The star QB seems confident he’ll be able to prove his innocence.

“The plaintiff’s lawyer claims that this isn’t about money, but before filing [the] suit he made a baseless six-figure settlement demand, which I quickly rejected,” Watson continued. “Unlike him, this isn’t about money for me – it’s about clearing my name, and I look forward to doing that.”

Houston Texans respond to the lawsuit

On Wednesday morning, the Houston Texans responded to the sexual assault lawsuit with a statement of their own.

“We became aware of a civil lawsuit involving Deshaun Watson through a social media post last night,” the Texans wrote in a statement. “This is the first time we heard of the matter, and we hope to learn more soon. We take accusations of this nature that involve anyone within the Houston Texans organization seriously. We will await further information before making any additional statements on this incident.”

With all the drama surrounding Deshaun Watson and the Texans this offseason, this lawsuit just adds even more confusion to the hostile situation.
