Lauren Tannehill, the wife of current Tennessee Titans Pro Bowl quarterback Ryan Tannehill, has made headlines in her own right over the years. Not only was the Texas native a model at one point in time but she’s also been very involved with numerous charities. But in 2014, when Ryan Tannehill was still with the Miami Dolphins, Lauren Tannehill made headlines by accidentally leaving an AR-15 rifle in the back of a rental car.

Ryan Tannehill met his future wife while at Texas A&M

While Ryan Tannehill is obviously only a quarterback in the NFL, he actually also played wide receiver while at Texas A&M. As a redshirt freshman, he was third on the quarterback depth chart for the Aggies but threw just one pass during the 2008 season. But he nearly set the school record for receiving yards with 844, just 11 shy of the record set by Robert Ferguson in 2000. That record has since been shattered.

The following spring, Tannehill met Lauren Ufer, who also attended Texas A&M, although the two met while on spring break in Panama City, Florida. The two began dating and were engaged in 2011, the same year Ryan Tannehill finally became the full-time quarterback for the Aggies. Tannehill started all 13 games at quarterback as a senior and threw for 3,744 yards with 29 touchdown passes and 15 interceptions.

The two married in January 2012 and Ryan Tannehill was taken with the eighth overall pick in the NFL draft just over three months later.

Football certainly isn’t the only sport that defines the Tannehills. Lauren was actually an athlete herself in high school, playing tennis while also spending time on the cheerleading squad. And both Lauren and Ryan Tannehill have never been shy about discussing how much they love hunting and fishing.

Throughout the years, Lauren has posted numerous pictures of the couple shooting guns on Instagram and both are known as very responsible gun owners. However, there was an instance back in 2014 in which Lauren left an AR-15 rifle in the back of a rental car.

Lauren Tannehill once left an AR-15 rifle in the back of a rental car

Back in January 2014, the South Florida Sun-Sentinel reported that Lauren Tannehill left an AR-15 rifle, which was legally registered to Ryan Tannehill, in the back of a rental car at the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport in South Florida.

Lauren had rented a white Nissan Rogue from E-Z Rent-A-Car but had returned it approximately two hours later and swapped it for another car. Later that day, the Rogue was rented to a New York woman, 58-year-old Judith Fleissig, who discovered the rifle two days later when she raised the seats of the SUV. She hadn’t initially looked in the back because she had nothing to put back there as the airline had lost her luggage.

Upon discovering the AR-15, Fleissig looked for identification in the bag containing the rifle but found nothing. She notified authorities, who came out and took it.

The same article indicated that Ryan and Lauren Tannehill notified the rental car company as soon as they realized the AR-15 was missing and that they were told to contact the Hillsboro Beach Police Department about getting it back.
