It’s obviously not often that we write about Betty White here at Sportscasting but we just couldn’t pass up the opportunity to show her some love on her 99th birthday. Now, the former Golden Girls star might not be as closely associated with sports as other non-athlete celebrities such as Jack Nicholson or Spike Lee just to name a couple but White has a few more connections to the sports world than one might think, which we’ll go through in just a moment.

On a day where the Cleveland Browns are attempting to get back to the AFC Championship Game for the first time since Betty White was 77, we thought it might be fun to take a quick look back on the time she took a shot at former Browns quarterback Johnny Manziel during a hilarious segment for FOX in which she also discussed meeting Jerry Jones at a swingers bar, body-shamed Michael Strahan, and pretended to seduce NFL commissioner Roger Goodell.

Betty White has had a few connections to the sports world over the years

Betty White has been an American icon for decades and while we’re used to seeing her in TV shows and movies and comedy specials and such, it’s always a bonus for sports fans when she contributes to that world as well. For example, did you know that she once teamed up with four-time NBA champion Shaquille O’Neal to help raise money for the fight against child abuse?

And let’s not forget this hilarious encounter between the two between takes.

In 2014, Betty White made an incredible guest appearance on WWE’s flagship show, Monday Night RAW, alongside another seven-footer, The Big Show, and sent the crowd into a frenzy by saying she was going to “kick some a–.” Check it out.

Ahead of Super Bowl 50 just two years later, which featured Cam Newton and the Carolina Panthers taking on Peyton Manning and the Denver Broncos, Betty White jumped in on Newton’s dabbing trend.

And, of course, there was her hilarious Super Bowl ad for Snickers.

She also helped usher in the NFL’s 100th season in 2019, which you can see in the video at the top of this section.

During the NFL postseason in 2016, FOX ran a hilarious segment during their award-winning pregame show in which actor Rob Riggle was promoting a fake website, Bandwagon.net, to help NFL fans rooting for bad teams find a new one, a segment which Joel McHale was involved with as well.

But the Bandwagon staff was also helping NFL free agents and coaches find new teams, which is where Betty White got involved as she was seen making numerous fake phone calls, the first of which was to then-Bengals head coach Marvin Lewis. White told Lewis that he hadn’t yet been fired, which he wouldn’t be for a couple more years, and just how crazy that was.

Next up was Dez Bryant, who was coming off an injury-plagued season with the Dallas Cowboys. White told him that she’d put in a good word for him with Jerry Jones because she’d be seeing him later at a swingers bar. But that wasn’t even the best part as NFL commissioner Roger Goodell was up next. She said that he was sexier than Luke Wilson and then seductively asked what he was wearing.

But she wasn’t done there.

She also took hilarious shots at Johnny Manziel and Michael Strahan

Following the fake seduction of Roger Goodell, next up was former Cleveland Browns quarterback Johnny Manziel, who’d just wrapped what would turn out to be his final NFL season. And Betty White wanted nothing to do with that fake phone call as she pretended not to speak English.

And to close things out, she took a hilarious shot at Michael Strahan’s abs, or lack thereof. You can check out the entire segment above and it’s certainly worth two minutes of your time.

Happy 99th Birthday, Betty White. You’re truly an American treasure.
