QB Trevor Lawrence’s No. 1 Question About His Future Has Been Answered
There are half a dozen NFL teams legitimately bad enough to lose 11 or 12 games this fall without even having to tank. So, how many of those general managers went into full-fledged panic attacks when they saw headlines Friday that Clemson quarterback Trevor Lawrence is officially off the market?

Trevor Lawrence seemed destined for a pro football career as early as his junior season in high school, when he threw for 51 touchdowns and 3,904 yards. He chalked up 41 straight wins and two Georgia state championships by the time he enrolled at Clemson. Along the way, he broke several state records held by Deshaun Watson.
Lawrence found immediate success at Clemson upon winning the starting quarterback job in Week 5 of the 2018 season and took the Tigers to the College Football Playoff Championship, where they beat Alabama, 44-16. He finished the season with 3,280 yards and 30 touchdowns through the air in becoming the first true freshman QB to start for a title team since Oklahoma’s Jamelle Holieway in 1985.
The Clemson sophomore was one of the most-watched players in college or pro football last fall. He overcame a slow start with stellar performances later in the season, including eight straight games with three or more touchdown passes. Clemson lost to LSU in the national title game, but Lawrence finished the season with 3,665 yards and 36 touchdowns. He also rushed for 563 yards and nine scores.
Even with the outstanding performance of LSU signal-caller Joe Burrow, Lawrence shaped up as a contender to be selected No. 1 overall had he declared for the 2020 NFL draft.

Yes, Trevor Lawrence is of the market. No, that doesn’t have anything to do with football. The Clemson quarterback received the answer to the biggest question in his life thus far when girlfriend Marissa Mowry said yes to his marriage proposal on Friday.
Lawrence popped the question on the field at Memorial Stadium, getting down on one knee to propose. Their friendship goes back to at least eighth grade, and the relationship seemed to take a more serious turn by April 2016, which was the first sighting of the Anderson University soccer player on his Instagram account.
Mowry wrote on her own Instagram account that the answer to Lawrence’s proposal was the “easiest yes of my life.”
Lawrence and Mowry made news earlier this year when they started a GoFundMe page with the intent of raising money for Meals on Wheels and No Kid Hungry to assist people affected by the coronavirus pandemic as it had begun to grip the country.

Regardless of whether the ongoing pandemic wipes out the college football season, it is likely that Trevor Lawrence is entering his final year of studies at Clemson before heading off to the NFL.
At 6-foot-6 and 220 pounds, Lawrence possesses the prototypical NFL body. He also has the resume that supports projections of him being selected No. 1 overall in the 2021 draft.
Where he’ll land, of course, is anyone’s guess. The Washington Redskins and Detroit Lions, to name two candidates, show the potential to struggle on the field (again) and concede the need to move on to their next quarterback. If Lawrence enters the draft, though, it’s conceivable that even a few teams that seem set at quarterback could try to move up for a shot at him.
