Some of the biggest winners in sports are the sorest losers. Maybe it’s just their competitive nature that forces athletes to become poor sports. It’s OK to be upset after a loss, but it’s how they deal with the loss that pins that sore loser label on the player or coach. Bill Belichick is a sore loser. Serena Williams is, too. Is there any bigger sore loser than Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James?

LeBron James is seeking his fourth NBA title

LeBron James is two wins from capturing his fourth NBA title. The 35-year-old James is still going strong and, if all goes according to plan, he’ll retire as the NBA’s all-time leading scorer. James is widely regarded as one of the top players of all time and is usually linked to Michael Jordan as the best of all time.

James finished second in the MVP voting to Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo. He led the league in assists per game with a career-high 10.2. He also finished the season averaging 25.3 points and 7.8 rebounds per game. James and the Lakers were the No. 1 seed in the Western Conference.

A fourth NBA title would certainly make the NBA’s GOAT debate much more interesting. He would be within two of Michael Jordan, who led the Chicago Bulls to six championships. James, a 16-time NBA All-Star, also has four MVP s under his belt, while Jordan has accumulated five.

James ‘pissed’ after he finished second in the MVP voting

LeBron James has the reputation of being a whiner. When something doesn’t go his way, he’ll complain. Whether it’s him being called for a foul or it’s a game he just lost, there are always complaints from James. James reached peak embarrassment after finding out he finished second in the MVP voting this year.

When the results were announced, James said he was “pissed” when asked his reaction. He was pissed because of the few first-place votes he received. Not only was he being selfish, but he was also a sore loser because he didn’t even acknowledge nor congratulate Giannis Antetokounmpo for winning. He referred to Antetokounmpo simply as “the winner” as he complained.

“It pissed me off. That’s my true answer,” James said of his reaction to the MVP voting. “It pissed me off because out of 101 votes, I got 16 first-place votes. That’s what pissed me off more than anything. I’m not saying that the winner wasn’t deserving of the MVP, but that pissed me off.”

Is LeBron James the sorest loser in all of sports?

Bill Belichick and Serena Williams have been criticized for being sore losers. Belichick has been blasted for not shaking hands after losing to the Giants in the Super Bowl after their perfect season was ruined in 2007. He also refused to do an interview with CBS after a loss to the Baltimore Ravens in the AFC title game in 2013, according to CBS Sports. Williams showed a lack of class for refusing to shake an umpire’s hand after she felt cheated at the 2011 US Open.

James, a few weeks after saying how “pissed off” at the lack of first-place votes he got in the 2020 MVP voting, was at it again. In Game 3 of the NBA Finals, with his team having already won the first two games convincingly, walked off the court and headed to the locker room with 10 seconds still remaining in the game.

It wasn’t as if James was on the bench and decided to get a head start toward the locker room. He was in the game at the time and just left the court. It was just another typical classless move by the man who calls himself King James, capping the fact he’s the sorest loser in all of sports.
