Tom Brady made his wife Gisele Bündchen put her foot in her mouth after the Buccaneers quarterback caught his own pass on Monday Night Football.

Gisele Bundchen came to her husband’s defense after the New England Patriots lost to the New York Giants in Super Bowl 46. But on Monday Night Football, Tom Brady made his wife put her foot in her mouth on a quirky play that ultimately did little to change the outcome of the game.

Moving forward, though, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have to figure out their identity on offense. Because despite throwing two more touchdowns, Brady also committed two costly turnovers that played a major factor in his team falling to 7-4.

Will Bruce Arians change up the approach on that side of the ball? Or will the Buccaneers fall short of their Super Bowl dream because of their issues on offense?

The 2011 season turned out to be quite a successful one for the Patriots. After winning NFL MVP honors the year before, Tom Brady threw for a career-high 5,235 yards while leading his team to a 13-3 record.

After taking down the Denver Broncos in the divisional round of the playoffs, New England edged out the Baltimore Ravens in the AFC title game. That set Bill Belichick up for a rematch against Tom Coughlin and the Giants.

Once again, though, Brady and the offense struggled to put up points against a fast, physical Giants defense. Wes Welker infamously failed to haul in a critical pass from Brady that would likely have sealed the game for New England.

Even after the Giants took the lead, Brady still had a shot at winning his fourth Super Bowl ring. But with less than a minute remaining, Deion Branch and Aaron Hernandez each committed costly drops. The Patriots ended up losing by a final score of 21-17.

Following the game, Gisele Bundchen got heckled by Giants fans. Brady’s wife couldn’t contain her frustration, and she delivered a big-time defense for her husband.

“You’ve to catch the ball when you’re supposed to catch the ball,” Bundchen exclaimed. “My husband cannot [expletive] throw the ball and catch the ball at the same time. I can’t believe they dropped the ball so many times.”

Gisele Bundchen may have told Giants fans that her husband can’t throw and catch at the same time, but Tom Brady just made his wife put her foot in her mouth on Monday Night Football.

On a 3rd-and-10 play in the fourth quarter, the 43-year-old quarterback attempted a pass to Mike Evans over the middle. However, the throw got tipped by LA Rams linebacker Terrell Lewis. But instead of falling to the ground, the ball ricocheted back into Brady’s hands.

He proceeded to hit Evans for an 8-yard gain that got wiped out because the play involved an illegal forward pass.

Ultimately, Brady did throw and catch his own pass, but it made little difference in the game. Tampa punted the ball back LA on the next play.

Although the six-time Super Bowl champion did throw a touchdown pass later in the quarter, he committed a costly error on what turned out to be the Buccaneers’ final possession.

With 1:57 left on the clock, Rams safety Jordan Fuller picked off Brady for the second time to preserve a 27-24 win.

Is it time for the Buccaneers to start worrying about TB12?

While the New Orleans Saints took care of business even with Taysom Hill at quarterback, the Buccaneers suffered their fourth loss of the season on Monday. Sitting at 7-4, they certainly don’t look like the favorites to win the NFC South based on how they’ve played in recent weeks.

Ironically, as the Saints deal with their own quarterback issues, the Buccaneers may need to start worrying about Tom Brady.

Although he has already surpassed his touchdown total from a year ago, the future Hall of Famer has already thrown nine interceptions in 11 games. He has thrown an interception on 2.1% of his attempts—his worst mark since 2009.

In addition, Brady continues to struggle to throw the ball deep. According to Next Gen Stats, he has missed all 19 of his deep passes during his last four games. Overall, he has missed on his last 22 deep attempts, which is the longest streak for any quarterback since 2017.

Moving forward, it will be interesting to see what adjustments (if any) Bruce Arians makes to the offense. In New England, Brady did his best work operating a quick-hitting passing attack that allowed receivers to gain yards after the catch. However, Arians employs an aggressive, downfield system that seems like a poor fit for a 43-year-old quarterback who never excelled as a deep-ball thrower.

When push comes to shove, will the head coach and quarterback find a way to make things work?

That remains to be seen.

For now, though, it’s clear that Brady and his talented cast of teammates have a lot of work to do if they intend on hoisting the Lombardi Trophy this season.
