San Antonio Spurs The San Antonio Spurs compete in the NBA’s Western Conference Southwest Division. Originally the Dallas Chaparrals, the franchise is the only former ABA team to win an NBA Championship. The Spurs resided in Dallas until the early ’70s when they moved to San Antonio and developed a loyal, enthusiastic fan base. Since the 1976 ABA-NBA merger, the team has won five championships. Over the past 30 years, the Spurs achieved the best winning percentage of any major pro sports team in North America.
